Yes, I did sneak that little tid bit in. I am pregnant. On my birthday (August 27th), Kaye brought be a pregnancy test as a 'present'. I was quite late and he really wanted to just know, for goodness sake! I, on the other hand, did NOT want to know. I was not, and I'm still not really, ready to give birth to another big headed baby of Kaye's. Either way, the test was a big positive and here we go again.
I really wanted to wait until after the ultrasound at 12 weeks to make sure that it really was what it was to say anything. Of course, I didn't. I let it slip out earlier. I did go to the ultrasound though and it was wiggling and kicking and having a good ol' time in there so it's a go. I'm a little unsure about wanting a girl this time around. I am fairly positive that this will be the last little baby from this mommy, so I don't know if I want to change it all up now and learn how to parent a little girl. I also wouldn't need all new stuff. My poor little baby boy will be raggedy and worn looking with all the hand me downs from his older brothers, but I'm good with that. We'll see. Who knows? I'm thinking it may even be an 'it' until D-day. It might be fun to be surprised.
You can look out for the newest member in our family around the end of April.
Hmmm...reading over this post, it does not sound that upbeat. I mean, Yay! Another baby!! :)
ALSO - I am actually working on my own computer!! So, my desktop is still broken and this netbook is not working up to par yet, but it is sort of working so I'm thrilled. No more computer withdrawal! Of course, I did try to post a picture of our pretty well completed house but the loading of a picture onto my blog was just too much for it's seemingly delicate constitution. Pictures will have to come later.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-8432489747547159162011-10-03T22:49:00.000-06:002011-10-03T22:49:27.247-06:00I'm alive!!So, BOTH of my computers have stopped working. After doing all the work on the house that we did, suprisingly, we cannot afford to get them fixed. SO....here I am, borrowing Kaye's work computer after going through SERIOUS internet withdrawal. I thought that I had better update my sorry blog. What a cliffhanger I left at hey? I'm sure you were all SO dying to see how we could get any better than that beautiful yellow and forest green. It was tricky, let me tell ya!

First off, the icky part! So, obviously, this house is old. Old old! We were actually really lucky that it ended up being in such good condition, except for this..............

This delightful bit was where our foundation was crumbling inside! It had been reinforced on the outside, reinforced on the inside, and they put big steel posts along the basement walls to help ensure that the basement is safe. Sadly, our old side door had rotted away so when our contractor pulled it off, we got THAT! That being the huge hole in our foundation walls looking in to my basement laundry room - past the yucky old pipes.

It's a beauty isn't it? Luckily, that turned into...

THIS!!! YAY!! A door. After plywood for a ridiculously long time, we finally got our third and FINAL door installed. We, at one point, had plywood on two of our doors with no stairs going to our third. It was super fun.

I obviously had a ton to catch up on, but they wouldn't let me upload any more pictures, as well as a complete lack of caring on my part, so I've only put some of the pitures on here. We now have the siding finished on the north side, front (east) with the exception of the vinyl cedar shake stuff that is going in the peak, as well as the peak of the porch, and the west (back obviously!). Kaye has just the south side to complete and we are DONE!!!

We still have soffit, fascia, and eavestrough to do, as well as the porch(a railing might be nice), oh and repouring a new walkway going up to our house, and all the inside stuff for the windows...putting all the sills and new molding and stuff up left to do, but we are leaving most until next year. Expensive!!! I might have to sell one of my children to get it all done. Heck, lets just sell them all. Then I can do a total rehaul on the inside too!! Kidding, sort of. We did run out of money though, so wait we must.

We did get a new roof (sheeting and all) installed as well. Apparently, the old owners were fans of cosmetic fixes and not really real fixes. We had rotting cedar shakes under our shingles. And under that was rotting ummmm... under stuff. It was crazy! We had holes we could see through! I felt great about that. Anyway, now all the roof is fixed and the walls or insulated and siding pretty well all up! I am thrilled!!!

We also bought all new windows. Marcus' and Rhys' windows were broken and didn't even shut so winter would have been a fun little adventure! We also got windows that all open so we have air flow! It's amazing the difference something so simple as a breeze can make!

Now, I'm tired. For FHE we decided to rake our neighbours (single mom and daughter) leaves. Service! So worth it, yet, 32 bags later, my pregnant hips and tailbone hate me and I think I'm going to lay back on a heating pad. I am so NOT kidding.... 32 bags. Yep, I thought it would be great to live on a beatiful tree-lined street. Wait, oh yeah, there are leaves involved. And it was probably only about 1/4 of what is going to fall this year! We still have tons of leaves not fallen yet!!!

Good night all! I hope we can meet again soon (ahem..Kaye, your computer.. hint hint).Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-17480694827291890672011-07-28T13:05:00.003-06:002011-07-28T13:17:48.739-06:00Demolition beginsKaye has finally started to demo on the outside of the house. It is definitely bittersweet. Yes, the siding was an appalling colour and the house was hideous, but that siding was classic! It was original...it had character :(. We are looking forward now though! Our windows are in and awaiting installation as soon as Kaye can get the exterior stripped.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoncBfXiR9fkudetCH_4QMCUKQL6T-2UAjHUgbcnZzChduCIXDP-E797zxWZFuUQqkqLG6d8m4IA7su5UYlZPMgFWhFmvI8IJsnAADou0yTTCpmzWt8KOqHIVftFYWJ5vIi2RSlZJNhs8/s400/Summer+2011+121.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634482065384146722" />

Kaye is so quick and efficient. He doesn't waste any time. The bottom back half of the house was on the ground in a matter of about an hour and a half. Last night, he stripped most of the front deck with his friend Jeff in about 15 minutes.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0QQqlg3pMgvoxw8MFhkYKCYISfSRUUPSh-PORQEaFnwmLrldBK2-cRv1uEGs0of_KHL2CfuC9Bur1ldVh6Evdfz4I96zDC7tUZuug0HKF7OD6Dj1PScyXNgCEafEbyO4nyloCpfF5nTk/s400/Summer+2011+117.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634482053012474274" />

The kids have been helping out tons too! This morning, Marcus, Colby, and Elijah were out throwing the stripped siding into the big dumpster before I had even gotten out of bed.....It was only 7:45 okay! It's the summertime! No judging. ;)

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hhQKristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-68452079301348169222011-06-28T13:43:00.004-06:002011-06-28T13:53:30.476-06:00On a roll!Or maybe....verbal diarrhea? We had fun science experiments (cornstarch and water, vinegar and baking soda, etc) and had each of the kids dress up in lab coats (men's undershirts cut down the middle), goggles, and rubber gloves. It was great. They made their own icing and decorated their own crazy cupcakes. It was so fun!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQmjskfz3sNpiK2xTSoQka7u0-SrRxgPNwEsavFPlSUqL4kQXlfYh3HSa6lVfIQjjhAxBX4AjcwQ1aITtFMcPMJdZMdG4u0pRWzNIpzAmNCLuoGMNAaFi5mnFT2zixM6Nc8PYd2p0svz4/s400/Kaye+and+his+matrix+018.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623353159105747698" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Ub9l09OyziO0TAFxDrEJzo3C65KorgdO70arBSZaedSHT6C5dIbCYMZebq2ofU-Cemh_cJN0Jd6Xs5GQt-hDWCNnhG2FojTjDmhcj9W18hAxq9pv4i7Vxu_IU0IJJOa3ldau7cjmcMw/s400/Kaye+and+his+matrix+011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623353143478278738" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpLlDEQWd7Uv-XT1dQTXtKLBNOrvLd-N_IxWUjxDAJghNpOTHNFDqnDsB1jYsVY83kBjmotfRaeGfp1D6QVY3we5oObjvyah5h3uulJrs33_nI0jXD62qYTZPDYQbQl4Rwu39hSnkZg2I/s400/Kaye+and+his+matrix+009.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623353137048569890" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYEp_RXyslpvzjigQFkOARaHwKt0agkfkWVxs71UFS54dtsgAX-G8i0iur7hsAn-tNTK3Tl_s0ES0po14CXhWWc-7JvJ84sCzvKjAQTJnqO-tLcG82Tz9nYeo5sKNSdjgOFZKOKIx5gcU/s400/Kaye+and+his+matrix+002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623353130936258802" />

Now as for poor Rhys' second birthday? Okay, maybe I'm trying to catch up just a little...

I was just informed on 4u2c TV ;) that there is an impressive new waterpark in Brooks! I think that is super exciting! The Brooks waterpark was a little less than stellar. Unfortunately, we don't live in Brooks though! We live out here in Moose Jaw.

Luckily, Moose Jaw as a beautiful park in the center of the city called Crescent Park. It's supposed to be a similar idea to Central Park in NY (obviously on a MUCH smaller scale!) It is fabulous though. It has a great little water park, attached to a playground, attached to a free little paddling pool for the little ones, attached to a big outdoor pool (not free but still fun!). It's so great to go and relax there. There is also a little "river" with ducks, the gorgeous Moose Jaw public library is in there, there is an outdoor theater area, a tennis club, a lawn bowling club, a beautiful fountain, walking trails, a museum, an art gallery, a YMCA gym...I LOVE Crescent Park. Anyway, we love to go strolling through the trees and playing at the water park! The kids have such a fun time! Yay for summer and warm weather! I know we'll be hanging out here all summer long!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLvSI91PWzvhqTaWMm2RnO0I7Rj_J_kdi4BWuQwjp8RDNubxtiNeEAF9SD14SsFATqGTAHhyphenhyphenAIR52AJjUVJHxtOD6XGkksZhg1JOOsccrMjmMfC6NmjoELAUuJi4AmTEybAKtRES7w__I/s400/Spring+and+Summer+2011+074.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623348051832709442" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGU8xk26R-kNwHWmnMm3Ie_Sj4Ua_pdjy_GPNMLOg3ALYpW5PFF8FFezvLt3L_oc4orOrN2l_JgI11fyvL0gP6KSY0F-sU88DIHNh-MayFk6uo1Ae8ALDvr5eHQzzNcZouDuH6NkF_6Z8/s400/Spring+and+Summer+2011+081.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623348043906985506" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6nChHKbc2FWGyF4FR9cYzMef4xsKF5qktiksNSNOxNT3YPZ0tAfXXfEzI_kKagEwbDj6aje0iNNp5nbfroiHLxLca3IdyQRES_MyoakrlkAlrqsVjuv_s87Rfh_EbOj-NMuZNk4Zx4b8/s400/Spring+and+Summer+2011+080.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623348035032977442" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCZAOarC3-36W4L2cWXttSFJH2DiXFpgc0E1fgkzMIrJFQ3y8V-LEZ2dwlNIU7VxYX-pMPquJ14ZEvoVK1R5mA1mQCi0PQm0MG7JA9r93cpRaN9zPm18V39jBvA7gOt3-FWxnShEsxLFs/s400/Spring+and+Summer+2011+075.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623348032810500194" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoPr5Eb6vCQQixUfjGsFU_8GHZsSUt_kJvwWXH4EQwm-urkBvcy87zvNQP4SDBuj4krVKrUV3NhIn5ovjG1p-sD33LPMsyxr-yPpL2PkVmIxrbLSCBGC6kca8XvHdHzJ9qeeu3NIljVHQ/s400/Spring+and+Summer+2011+073.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623348021216154210" />Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-48607381958028012692011-06-28T12:30:00.004-06:002011-06-28T12:47:56.286-06:00Starting FreshI have recently decided that instead of trying to "catch up" on blogging, I'm simply going to start fresh. Here we go!

For so many years, our trusty gold 1993 Toyota Camry Wagon was so kind to us. There was never a need for too much work to be done on it and it never broke down. It was a gem. It was also.....ugly! Kaye, being the one without the 4 kids to haul around, got to be the one to drive our delightful wagon.

When we moved to Saskatchewan, we were required to get an inspection done on our vehicles to have them insured. To my dismay, after getting the inspection done on our wagon, we required $3000 worth of work to be done on it. Not likely! For a poor car that isn't even worth that fixed up? Sadly, I had to give in to Kaye's pleading for a shiny new car.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8Lc87XuUMctZHkcPJlkhRyQ_Nd8I7G5y3KFgZZe1jNw4hBh8TkkDRb3AO0RLxr2X_bl1bpLfliQNSjK7tVCd_MRX0IutM8R6IUnQ5E0tImnSaiNUQF5AqMHva-CBCQybu-algv3mOe9w/s400/Kaye+and+his+matrix+037.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623341253788632402" />

TA DA!! Being that Kaye is an abnormally tall person with ridiculously long legs, we were a little limited to the type of car that we would buy. Luckily, we pulled into the Toyota dealership one sunny day and found this little beauty.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRPfF8WcM833LGchxAYGaP90E6g7TZ_YVC0IvOosnM15y54KAJcDMYIvsGzmopzZcJ2u-1lbMC_FuzpqEvSYhyphenhyphen7YMBxy6_ykLZjXDE67DZwiEqfh1Ch4dUORh-X-m9v7V51lGvr_hpXJQ/s400/Kaye+and+his+matrix+038.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623341260705469474" />

It's a 2009 Toyota Matrix. AND...he's got a whole 2-3 inches of head room! It's great. Kaye loves it. He doesn't feel like an old lady driving his car around any more!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXtIA2ugFFAf7VCRMeR3RKmFaOAEC1x40252py-7w8tfYnhqIntNyv4ILAxIN_KyoAAx-BQhbw_WLWZEfjPwRrlEnH9g2TISPGM7vHnkkFi854ligASmzl3IKfTRyQZ6Pu-VYBbE-Vy6Q/s400/Kaye+and+his+matrix+040.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623341269874379730" />

Sadly, Kaye is SO proud of his dandy new car that he takes to stupid thing to the car wash at least once a week. He has also completely forgotten to take care of my van. Yes, it's getting old and isn't as shiny as his, but it still needs love! Oh well. At least Kaye is happy...and we can feel like we are a little more with the times instead of driving around in a fancy 1993 wagon!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-55643861340698253352011-02-25T22:28:00.003-07:002011-02-25T22:46:18.731-07:00Four years old!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3Ngjx4LMOtV7IcKmg5DrXIu9J03hyphenhyphen8ihTm-Gd-LvwDPQ-4ADLXM58ZvbeCFID8TUclM-k8q4JBF1EcO5vkrXzauYNQpAd23l-qki1bowHmQ1awvKUFO_gva2wBaTyaA0DsqXcgfjWytU/s400/Photos+from+Dad%2560s+camera+540.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577867164682981474" />

My little baby turned 4 on Tuesday....sort of forgot to blog about that. I thought that there might be someone out there who hasn't heard it and SHOULD. It's upbeat, relaxing, and uplifting all at the same time. It's called Anchor by Mindy Gledhill. Mindy is a member of the church and she also does church music. This CD is not gospel oriented. It's just so fantastic though. I get so tired of listening to music where you have to cringe every once in a while because of the language or the inability of listening to songs all together. This one is definitely a keeper. Check her out at mindygledhill.com if you are interested.

The next on the agenda....we bought a new house! Okay, old, old house. We bought a beautiful character home on a beautiful tree-lined street in the old part of Moose Jaw. It is kitty corner to a school where my kids can go to and I love it!! It's a big tall thing with 2 1/2 floors and the 1/2 floor at the top....it's the master suite. Yep, I'm excited. It's got 4 bedrooms on the second floor so all of my little darlings will have their own rooms. It obviously has some work to get done...the exterior is ghastly, but it's cheap too so we will be able to afford it...once our Trochu house sells. Please, oh, please, let the sale go through on the Trochu one!! If you are interested in taking a peak, there are pics on mls. The number is 390448. The pictures don't do it justice....it's adorable! I can't wait to move in and start settling in for once. I am so tired of all the moving. And this house is fabulous...or will be once I'm done with it!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-64493047752730492262011-02-10T12:10:00.003-07:002011-02-10T12:48:20.228-07:00The Things I've LearnedI've been in Moose Jaw for just over a month now. I've had some time to see what it has to offer and just thought I'd tell you what I learned.

- Saskatchewan has a SERIOUS snow plowing issue. Don't bother coming here in the winter. The roads are dreadful!
- Moose Jaw (I have no idea about any of the other places in the province) does NOT charge school fees....like none! This was a very convenient truth for me to hear.
- It's DARN cold here. No word of a lie...I thought Alberta was bad!
- This city has beautiful historic buildings. I LOVE them. They also have beautiful old character homes on amazing tree lined streets, of which I fully intend to live on in the near future.
- I really like it. I know, with all my griping and complaining, I didn't give myself a chance to let the Lord help me be okay with all of this moving stuff. BUT, after I did it, I feel like it was good decision. (I may recant this statement in the future if something doesn't go my way ;) kidding, kidding.
- I have never lived in a place where they actually deliver your mail to your door, but they do here.....and I LOVE IT!! I am so glad that I am not required to leave my warm house on these bitterly cold Saskatchewan days to walk down the street or drive to the post office to collect my mail. Yay for mail carriers!
- With the church not being very strong here, I feel like I can really do some good here. I feel like I have been brought up by strong stalwart members of the church who taught me how to live correctly and I feel like now I get to be the strong one to help those who need it...and I think that Moose Jaw needs it. I am really excited about being here and helping others become stronger in the gospel.

On the other side, I had an experience just last night that I have never had before. I go to a Christian mom's group that has been doing a study on how to better your marriage. Yes, sometimes it's a little bit weird to listen to a pastor and hear the bible being quoted in that new world way they wrote it, but honestly, I really enjoy it. I get a lot of good things out of it that have helped my marriage, which by the way, has been really good lately. I think that this study thing has really helped.

Anyway, last night, a friend of mine, who is also a member of the church and goes to the class as well, came over to inform me that apparently, we are still allowed to go to the class but we are not to share any of our crazy mormon ways. The instructor told her that we are not Christians, that we do not believe in Christ, and that we don't believe the bible. Now, obviously, this particular person has been grossly misinformed about the church, but I have never before experienced a negative attitude about us. I was honestly shocked. I am still going for me, but I feel really awkward there because they honestly think we are some sort of crazy. Hmmm. This is an interesting position to be in. I am so glad that I have a strong testimony and that this opposition doesn't faze me, but I feel bad that this is what it is like here. Welcome to living in a place with barely any mormons!

All in all though, I like this place. I'm excited to see what it is like in the warmer months....when I can actually go outside and also drive around without as much fear of a head-on collision! This is just a snippet...there are many, many more horrendous offerings, but here are a few .

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO4KPyisn1GzJZRdEnFSsmITFfuIz_4rSk_9fyi3K-lMlFXeb4_ne7MXrM88viK31qm2elDYNnJt5Hb4auWN6L-D5QFan1nmDLegMsuQsoevmBcHF1jhQMZDMJS1Pi_EPtpglYHJjDQ5g/s400/009.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550573941190270226" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDABQ2IOzLlwUN3qZl_lGfmdEQU9w1xuyKb51N52wXA1ciIQ4iJdrw4QQEnx2Ctx1HsV-_FvEFMdrrX6SD8_uFJr7tZ72KMbWBptv71fQWljUY0zF0zRVrBmfnaMMBqkLRke2YSoVAT68/s400/016.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550573778080954450" />

Warm Vest.Cold Shoulder.

How could it have gone any other way? Not so coincidentally, this will also be the exact moment you discover that their choice of underwear is just as bizarre as their matching set of Moron Ponchos. Clearly she's modelling this jacket against her will, and it's simply part of a process meant to speed up the Stockholm Syndrome. The strange U-shaped pocket will cloud her thoughts. The crooked row of blinding buttons will make her question everything she ever believed. Ultimately, the acrylic shag will break her spirit, leaving an empty shell of the woman she once was. There just aren't enough crocheted unhappy-face pillows in the world to express my feelings for our patron saint of perverse yarn fetish. I'm not even sure what the appropriate venue for this outfit would be. Does she need to call her friends ahead of time to tell them not to wear their brown leotard with diaper-skort and matching head wrap when they head to the miniature golf course? Well, at least the makers of this new and improved acrylic yarn (now polyester!) are offering a guarantee that they can stand behind. People will definitely be looking. Maybe they should have upped the ante a bit and offered a guaranteed open-mouthed gape.

I hope this little offering was able to brighten your day. I know it did mine. I'm so glad I didn't leave this little number to languish on the shelf forever. I am sure, for any of you out there who like that sort of thing, you have your favorite sites you use for free knitting and crocheting patterns. I thought that I would share mine and you, in turn, could share a few of yours...if you have any. I am always on the hunt for new adorable things to knit or crochet, so I thought maybe you might be too. I think a couple of you out there love yarn too.

I really really love www.purlbee.com It is fantastic. It has some of the coolest ideas, like the Linen Grocery Tote (of which I have made and love), the Long Striped Hand Warmers (which I started about 4 months ago and are still sitting there....they are just so cute, but I hate double pointed needles), or the wedding washcloths (which I think are beautiful and super easy to knit up really quick), along with many others.

I also just found a fabulous site called www.pickles.no. I am super excited about this site. I love the little itty bitty baby stuff. I can't wait to get my knitting on! They have this absolutely adorable bolero for little girls I REALLY want to make for my little nieces called Nora's Bolero and also the cute cute scarf included in Ingrid's Diva kit. I have made a couple of cute slip through scarfs but I like this one much better. I really want to make it!

Anyway, I LOVE knitting. It isn't gross acrylic itchy tacky stuff of the seventies anymore. It is beautiful.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-53798806498496361702010-12-09T09:38:00.004-07:002010-12-09T09:49:27.637-07:00What Every Mom Wants to HearI have been quite fortunate with all my children never having a run-in with lice. There is one positive thing about having boys. Their hair is so short you usually don't have to do too much worrying. Not right now though!

Last night I got a phone call from Marcus' Cub leader Lena. She thought it best to warn me ASAP that at Cubs last night, there was a little boy present with a very advanced case of lice. The worst part about it was that the mom, unaware of what it actually was, proceeded to try to rub and pick it out, WITH MARCUS SITTING RIGHT BESIDE HIM!!! SICK, SICK, SICK!

Of course, she didn't get a chance to call me BEFORE I patted Marcus on the head, laid down to read Harry Potter on his bed with him, and pulled my hair out of a ponytail and finger combed my hair. ARG! I'm sort of freaking out a bit!

Suffice it to say, I proceeded to scrub, scrub, scrub, until my head was raw. All our clothes and bedding into the wash, and tea tree oil all over Marcus' head. It's not as if I keep lice shampoo at home. Sort of the grossest thing ever!

Please, oh please, let us NOT be infected with lice.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-87610273837036191302010-11-22T10:08:00.003-07:002010-11-24T11:34:13.598-07:00To the Middle of NowhereSince our move from Brooks 3 1/2 years ago or so, we have bounced from place to place, Crossfield, Trochu, Innisfail, and now......Moose Jaw. We are now moving on to Moose Jaw Saskatchewan! I have to put it in writing or I will never be able to admit it to myself. I am SO not looking forward to this move. I am Albertan born and bred and I do not take kindly to the idea of moving to the barren wasteland that is Saskatchewan. Okay, okay, it's not exactly wasteland...it's bigger than Brooks, but man, I really don't want to go!!

Sadly, Kaye has been offered the job he's been wanting for years. He will now be the new Plant Superintendent of Thunder Creek Pork. He's been wanting to run a plant for a good number of years and someone finally thought he should do it too. He worked for a man for about 6 months years ago who remembered his promise and called him up and offered him the job. After a lot of *discussions* and excuses on my part as to why we cannot move, we finally decided that the opportunity is just too big not to go. Okay, it was actually Kaye who decided and I guess that means I have to go too.

I am not at all excited about the prospect of moving so far from everything that I know, but if I am being fair, at Sunterra they do not have medical benefits and RRSPs and the like and they do there, with of course, a pay raise. They also give him 3 weeks instead of 2 for vacation and an awesome moving allowance which means no loading and unloading the house, and they are going to put Kaye up until we get out there and help with rent until our house in Trochu sells. I know, so stupid. When will it ever sell?? I am quite stressed out about that part of it to tell you the truth.

Anyway, there it is. I thought I better write it down and come to grips with what is actually happening. It's really disappointing because I really like Innisfail. It is the best town we've lived in since Brooks. Kaye's super excited though. He'll be starting his new job December 13.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-27062624392110083092010-10-07T13:39:00.002-06:002010-10-07T13:55:33.933-06:00A trail of nuggets*I apologize to all in advance for this post. I am throughly frustrated and needed an outlet. Now, onto the post.

I don't know who knows this, but I babysit two kids full time. I watch a 3-year-old boy named Jaxon and his little sister Ashlyn who is about 18 months old. I love Ashlyn. She is such a sweetheart, never a problem. Jaxon on the other hand is a 3-year-old boy.

This afternoon, I was trying to finish up lunch when Elijah screams from the living room, "Mom!! There's poop on the floor!" Now, I don't mind changing diapers, don't mind wiping bums, but I DO mind poop on my living room carpet.

I ran into the living room to see Jaxon walking towards me bow-legged dropping a trail of little poop nuggets on the floor behind him. ARGGG!! All the way to the bathroom, little gifts were deposited on my floor.

When questioned as to why he decided to poop in his pants, his reply was, "It just slipped right out of my bum." Gross!

I am so glad that potty training was never a drawn out endeavor with kids going anywhere but where they were supposed to. I don't think I could manage!

The things we go through for our kids who we love is one thing. May I ask, where is the wisdom in doing these things for children who are not our own?Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-57139243999724938242010-10-01T21:17:00.003-06:002010-10-01T21:24:23.641-06:00Free is the best sort of deal<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfDjBoJTUHHnylbnnUCFnNAIcHA6eVTDzjqvKVKOFsgF1g-GFD3WvrNbsPhL4zEBZjcjKWiqS-iiS0b9fP8G0MzX-Vl5cn0BsIh2e0Wr2e7toTB7oRLFR2NQlkrH05G9ylzgXPTsZK8ac/s400/Rhys'+first+steps,+swing+set,+fall+2010+022.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523283350124063122" />

I love a good deal...and free really is the best! This little number was offered to us by our realtor. Someone was moving and needed it gone. I was thrilled. I'm cheap, what can I say? The best part of it all? I put it together...all by myself! Usually, I am what you call a wimp. I get Kaye to do anything that requires heavy lifting and handyman skills, but my Elijah really wanted to play with it and it was a beautiful day....so I did it! I'm extremely proud of myself. I like the feeling of being independent.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-54239697034725210782010-09-23T19:32:00.003-06:002010-09-23T19:37:09.454-06:00Colby vs. PrayerI know I haven't blogged in a really long time. I'll try to expound later on. BUT, right now, I have to share another Colby story.

Dad: "Colby, please say family prayer."
Colby: "I forgot how."
Dad: "Mom can help you."
Colby: "Never mind. Arg!"

Colby: "Dear Heavenly Father, we are thankful for (aside to Kaye - I can't think of anything).
Dad: "This day."
Colby: "This day. And please bless I won't have to say prayers again tomorrow night. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

What a little butt. I think I'm really going to have to worry about him later on in life.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-17011380919060927302010-07-18T22:06:00.002-06:002010-07-18T22:13:02.041-06:00Officially homeless!Trying to move has been an absolute disaster. Things are NOT going the way I anticipated. Can't sell our house, can't find a place to rent. Need to be there for school in September and Kaye HATING commuting with a passion. Either way, we are moving...the end of the week. The kicker is, we don't even have a place to move in to. Moving to Innisfail has proved to be more difficult than I thought. There seems to be 10 vultures fighting over the same carcass. I'm getting a little downhearted about it to tell you the truth. We now have a renter coming next week to live in my home. We are going to be staying in Brooks at my mom and dad's for however long it takes to find a place in Innisfail....which will be soon, RIGHT??? I need to be positive....or delusional, whichever one I need to be to get through this without losing my mind!

Look out for us in Brooks anyway. We should be there by next Monday at the latest. As for now, we will be madly packing our entire house in the next week. Yay!!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-17116280040595983772010-07-04T14:19:00.001-06:002010-07-04T14:21:12.977-06:00Just what you need, when you need it.As of late, I have been feeling a tad overwhelmed with my children. I know that I have wondered if it is worth it. I get so frustrated with all the fighting, yelling, crying, and all together stress of being a mom. It just seems like Heavenly Father knows just what you need, exactly when you need it. Today at church, it felt like all the testimonies were about the importance of moms and families. Then, in Relief Society, it was all about nurturing and loving our families. Then, I get home and turn on the LDS website, and I find this mormon message.

Motherhood: An Eternal Partnership with God

I am so glad Heavenly Father loves me. I feel better now.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-56360329870025405642010-06-09T09:10:00.002-06:002010-06-09T09:26:15.360-06:00Seriously?Yesterday, we received a flyer in the mail from George Richards Big and Tall. I love to look at clothes that might actually fit my husbands frame! As I was looking through, I found a picture of a tee shirt. It was shown in blossom. It is also available in cola, como, sepia, atlantis, armadillo, black, white, charcoal, sangria, or marine. I also found a dress shirt which was available in white, black, pewter, french blue, lavender, chianti, ivory, capri, blossom, chamois, or violet.

This strikes me as somewhat odd. Can someone please define the exact shade of tee shirt I will be receiving if I order como? What about atlantis? What colour would marine be compared to atlantis? Seriously, is there something wrong with the real colours. It is just so ridiculous! Also, I don't know if I really want my husband wearing a shirt that's called blossom or cola. They just sound so silly! I don't even mind having my husband wear pink, but blossom? Weird.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-66448173400536944462010-06-01T08:13:00.004-06:002010-06-03T10:42:16.681-06:00Yes, we are that patheticWe bought or van in 2006, a couple of weeks after
we found out that I was pregnant with Elijah. When we bought the van, we were given 2 key fob keys. Like this.....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL2snCMcUNEuzShfTFaCvR8azfNGkzam9GmMJ-zeWvxOBNnoOL_X_SIJsc6cqHdQOl2ij3_JzEWbEIqj-jo64qskAlc02PIB3KmP0rk8qsy_fZsqFFF2dRLx4YvJBLi6e_xoEUoRmEyCE/s400/515MUYDoOPL__SL500_AA300_.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477809342959347346" />

The really bad part about these keys is that they connect to a key ring by that tiny little loop on the side. Not sturdy AT ALL.

About 3 years ago, in a huff, I threw my keys down and broke my van key off of my key ring. About a year later, Kaye's key broke off from being on a key ring with too many other keys. You can't tape that puppy back together. It's in a spot that just doesn't work.

We've been carrying around our keys for a couple of years now...just trying to keep track it. It is not that easy, considering you always have to have your key ring AND your separate key.

A number of months ago, we lost one of the keys somewhere, we have no idea where, and were down to one key. Yesterday, we lost our second key. We cannot drive our van! I cannot even tell you how mad this makes me. We can't find it anywhere! I realize this makes us extremely irresponsibe. I get it. It's hard on weekends though. Kaye drives the van on the weekend as well, so I don't really keep as close of an eye on the key. Either way, it's gone.

Now, we have to tow our van all the way to Olds, which is not going to be cheap so that we can get a new key programmed for our stupid van! I am NOT impressed.

Man, I really, really need to find that key!

* UPDATE

KAYE FOUND THE KEY!!!!! It was hiding underneath Colby`s bed under a pile of clothes. Thank goodness! And yes, we are going to be getting a new one tomorrow.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585146880565862317.post-54529314367798777992010-05-27T16:59:00.003-06:002010-05-27T17:09:21.769-06:00Only in public!Today, I decided to go to Winners. No particular reason why, I just wanted to get out of my house. When I go to Winners, sans husband anyway, I like to be there for hours. During this morning spent in Winners, Elijah had to use the bathroom.

Picture this:

Cart must be left outside because I have merchandise.
Baby must be held as floors are, well, bathroom floors.
Elijah locks the stall so I cannot get in.

All is well until...splash!

As you can imagine, Elijah falls into the toilet. I'm alone, holding a baby, with the stall door locked, and a child who has just fallen into his own....you know. It was delightful.

Luckily, when he finally opened the stall, it was to find only his socks that had gotten any real "damage".

To top it off, needing help to wipe his bum, he comes out of the stall into the public area and proceeds to bend over with his booty in the air for me to wipe. Luckily, no one there was offended by the sight of a little boys poopy butt in their face....or they just didn't say anything. Kids! You gotta love em!

You know what though? Still got myself some cute dresses! All is good!Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10978280212024459968noreply@blogger.com3
